NAIA Opening Round

Greetings from Lubbock, TX -
We rolled into town last night and the boys are primed and ready to go. We have had our ups and downs all year, but the team has continued to believe and has fought hard all year. They are excited, yet focused on the task at hand. We will approach game one, and the rest of the tournament as we have approached every game all year: one pitch at a time.
Thanks for the support all season long - stay with us, we are not done yet!

Heading Up North

I want to thank our Seniors for all of their hard work, dedication, and for buying into what we are building down here. I know they will each be successful in whatever life throws at them. Thanks Guys!

Short week here, rain has washed out Monday's practice and our scrimmage vs. LCC on Tuesday. So practice Wednesday and then up to Marshall, TX on Thursday. The RRAC south #1 seed comes down to this weekend and our final 3 RRAC games vs Wiley College. They are having a great year and they will be ready to play. As for our boys, they will be too!

Until Next Week!

A Great Night at the Ballpark!

We hosted our 1st ever "Scorpions Fight Back Against Breast Cancer" night at the ballpark on Tuesday evening - It was a great success. We sold out of our pink shirts and I hope to make the donation later on this week! I want to thank all those who helped out to make this event - I hope it was the first of many in the the years to come!

It's back to RRAC play this weekend and the boys are focused on the task at hand. Its important we finish strong and secure a spot in the post season, and hopefully with a high seed!

I really like how we are playing as of late, we have been swining the bats well and playing good defense. Our pitching has been great for the most part, we just lacked a little focus as of late - but they will get things straightened out...

See you this weekend! DH on Friday 4 pm and then Senior Day on Saturday 1 pm!!

4-2 in RRAC Play

Congrats to Brian - he had a great weekend for us!

I would like to invite all to our first annual Breast Cancer Awareness night at the Ballpark - tomorrow April 6, at 6 pm when we host TAMIU - it will be a great event for us and our campus!

Then this coming weekend it is parents weekend and on Saturday we pay tribute to our Seniors:
Robby Mang
Daniel "Trey" Garcia
Walter Blume
Jesus Mendoza
Brian Bustos

All of these guys will be missed, not only because of what they can do on the field, but they are also very fine young men...I am proud to have them in our program and I wish them the best of luck in thier futures. However, they still have some work to do on the field!

See you at the Ballpark!

RRAC Play Wk 1

2-1 in RRAC Play, taking 2 of 3 on the road at Texas College. Not a bad way to start RRAC play. Game 1 was well played on both sides, for us Gidora threw great! One of his best outings all year. But offensively we failed to make adjustments and their guy did a good job of keeping us off balance. For games 2 and 3 our bats woke up and we pitched it well enough to win. I was excited to see the effort and emotion our guys showed after a disappointing game 1.

This weekend its off to Austin, TX and Huston-Tillotson University. Thus far we have had a great week of practice, guys have been really focused on their game and are ready to get back on the field.

After this weekend we have our final 4 home games, begining with Texas A and M International on Tuesday at 6 pm - this will also be our 1st (of hopefully many) "Scorpions Fight Back Against Breast Cancer" night. We will be wearing Pink Jerseys and will have Pink scorpion baseball shirts available with a donation of $5.00 - with all the proceeds to be donated to Breast Cancer Research.

Then April 9 and 10 is Parents weekend with our senior day on April 10.

See you at the ballpark!

17-15

Coming off a very Successful 9 game home stand we now prepare for the start of RRAC Play.

Looking back we have had our ups and downs this year; we have won big and lost bigger, we have won close and had some heart breakers...as of late we have been playing very well - but now its conference play and the records can be thrown out the window. Each team starts a new season with a tournament birth and seeding on the line.

I really like how we are playing right now, each guy has accepted their role and is doing what they can to help the club win, and only with that attitude will we continue to with this success.

Short week of practice this week then up to Tyler...

Lastly - want to thank all of our supporters and those of you who helped out so much this past week with Spring Break games at Scorpion Field!

Til next time,
GO SCORPIONS!
